ENN's Jerry Kay and Katrina Rill spoke with Elise Annes, Principle of Grassroots Communications & Marketing, a company that partners with socially responsible businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Annes said that the company looks for socially responsible food producers that are willing to distribute to the machines, a process which isn't a moneymaker yet.

Stonyfield Farm, a well-known maker of natural and organic food products, is one such company that is willing to reduce its margin in order to invest in a future where vending machines aren't necessarily associated with junk food. The company's machines are refrigerated and contain juice, string cheese, energy bars, and other healthy offerings.

The machines will be appearing in big cities like New York, Philadelphia, Miami, and Washington soon.
