Jerry Kay spoke to Anna Utech of the Equal Exchange Interfaith Coffee Program:

Listen to EarthNews Radio: Equal Exchange Interfaith Coffee Program

Utech says the Equal Exchange program began in 1986 as a fair trade organization, and the Interfaith Program within it began about ten years later. The program began by talking with Lutheran World Relief about how people in local parishes could engage in economic justice issues in their churches.

Equal Exchange educates congregations about fair trade and the environment, and why people of faith should care about these issues. The program has taken off, growing about 60% each year.
