Dec. 17—CHESTER, S.C. — Omnova Solutions' Performance Chemicals facility in Chester recently received a 2004 Responsible Care Achievement Award from the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association.





The award, which recognizes chemical manufacturing companies that demonstrate a strong public commitment to environmental, health and safety performance, was presented at the association's annual dinner and reception held in New York City on Tuesday.





The Chester plant was specifically recognized for efforts such as supporting local emergency agencies, evaluating process safety hazards, improving employee safety and health through various programs, increasing recycling efforts and providing funds to municipal, educational and non-profit organizations in the community.
