May 20, 2011 - Professional sports teams the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders FC announced they will install the largest solar energy array to date in the state of Washington on the roof of Qwest Field Event Center. The solar installation will cover over 2.5 acres, or approximately 80% of the Event Center roof.

May 19, 2011 - A new survey from Accenture finds that the majority of consumers are interested in buying plug-in electric vehicles (PEV). But how consumers charge those vehicles is a complicated issue, with charging infrastructure and cost being top concerns. Accenture (NYSE: ACN) surveyed 7,000 consumers in 13 countries and found that consumer preferences for charging PEVs could increase the cost and complexity of managing the electricity grid and charging infrastructure.
Toys 'R' Us To Build Largest Rooftop Solar System in North America

Toys"R"Us, Inc. announced plans to build the largest rooftop solar power installation in North America at its distribution center in Flanders, NJ this week, with construction of the 5.38-megawatts (MW) installation expected to begin this summer. The system will cover roughly 20 acres of rooftop space and is estimated to generate 72% of the electrical needs for the distribution facility. It will consist of more than 37,000 thin-film photovoltaic solar panels manufactured by United Solar, a subsidiary of Energy Conversion Devices.
Research Shows Fair Trade Label Increases Sales

April 26, 2011 — A new study reported by Fair Trade USA and conducted by researchers from MIT, Harvard and LSE shows that the prominent appearance of the "Fair Trade Certified" label on coffee packaging can potentially increase sales by up to 13%. The researchers conducted a 6 month study in partnership with a large national retailer to examine the purchasing behavior of U.S. consumers in 26 different stores.

March 23. 2011 - Hilton Worldwide announced that it intends to turn off the lights at thousands of the hotels on Saturday to recognize Earth Hour. From 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time, hotels in the company's 10 distinct brands will switch off main building exterior lighting and rooftop signage, shut down business center equipment and dim interior lights.

February 9, 2011 - Consumer support for renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, is extremely high, according to a new market report from Pike Research. In a survey of more than 1,000 U.S. adults, Pike Research found that 79% of consumers have a favorable view of solar energy, and 75% have a favorable view of wind energy.
