Workshops on Sequestration of Greenhouse Gas

The Cooperative Research Centre for Greenhouse Accounting is providing two opportunities for Australians to learn more about issues surrounding both biological sequestration and geological sequestration of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide.

The opporturtunities come through two workshops in which the Research Centre is involved, one in Perth on 10 November 2004 and the other in Melbourne on 17 November 2004.

In Perth, CRC for Greenhouse Accounting speakers are involved in a free workshop on sequestration organised by the Western Australian Department of Industry and Resources and the Department of Premier and Cabinet for 10 November 2004. The CRC's Chief Executive, Dr Chris Mitchell, will present on Market issues for biosequestration - an overview of current and prospective trading issues and opportunities, and CRC researcher Dr Richard Harper will give a presentation on Assessing biosequestration potential: opportunities for the WA land management sector arising from greenhouse gas abatement. The Chief Executive of Greening Australia (WA) Dr Robert Lambeck, will give a presentation on Revegetation, biodiversity and carbon. Other speakers during the day will give presentations on geological sequestration issues. Details of the Perth workshop are available at http://www.greenhouse.crc.org.au/crc/products/AETF/bcs.cfm
