My Wild Kingdom App Wins FWA Mobile of the Day Award

OMAHA, Neb. – Mutual of Omaha’s My Wild Kingdom app has been awarded Mobile of the Day for May 6 by Favourite Website Awards (FWA). The app will be featured for 24 hours on the FWA website at http://www.thefwa.com/mobile.

My Wild Kingdom is a free, mobile adventure app that uses augmented reality to bring the wildlife experience to any situation by allowing users to add virtual animals to their photos and videos.

The app allows users to hold a giraffe in their hand, put a giant elephant on the freeway or sneak an alligator into a family portrait, all while choosing from several different adventure story lines. Users can learn fun facts about wild animals and their habitats from Jim Fowler, host of the original Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. The app is available in the Apple App Store.

Submissions for the Mobile of the Day award are reviewed by FWA’s expert panel of mobile judges who base their decisions on five key criteria – creativity, originality, design, content and personality.

FWA is an industry recognized award program, established in 2000, showcasing projects that use cutting edge technology together with inspirational ideas to lead the way for future generations.

Mutual of Omaha’s yearlong celebration of Wild Kingdom’s 50th anniversary includes a new webisode series, an online contest to select a “Wild Guide” who will be featured in the webisodes. An all-new http://www.wildkingdom.com/ is the hub for all that is new and exciting in the Wild Kingdom.
