SCHAUMBURG, Illinois — Zurich North America Commercial's unit providing environmental and design professional insurance has opened an office in Boston to serve customers in its New England region. Zurich's New England region includes Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

Zurich offers a large portfolio of environmental products and services to meet the needs of businesses in real estate development, manufacturing, contracting and hazardous materials transportation, as well as professional liability insurance for design professionals.

"To develop effective solutions for environmental risks, you need a carrier with depth of experience in local issues, including the regulatory climate," said Ken Berger, Executive Vice President of Zurich's environmental and design professional unit. "We opened this office to provide even better service for our New England-based customers and develop stronger long-term relationships with them."

Zurich also maintains teams of environmental insurance professionals in New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Denver, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Heading the office will be Chris DeLauder, Regional Vice President. For the past 10 years, DeLauder has been in Zurich's Atlanta office, where he supervised a team of underwriters primarily responsible for the environmental services business.
