EL SEGUNDO, California — International Rectifier, a power management technology company, announced today that it has won the Environmental Award, one of the Elektra 05 European Electronics Industry Awards. The annual awards are organized by Electronics Weekly, part of publishing company Reed Electronics Group, in recognition of achievement and innovation in the electronics industry.

Speaking on behalf of the independent panel of judges, Electronics Weekly Editor Richard Wilson said, "International Rectifier has set an example of environmental awareness in all its business activities which establishes a great blueprint for other manufacturers to follow." The judges were looking for firms that have made a significant effort to reduce the environmental impact of their products, manufacturing processes and business practices. Consideration was given to companies throughout the world that have taken a proactive stance towards compliance with European legislation on the disposal of waste materials and restrictions on the use of hazardous substances.

International Rectifier's CEO Alex Lidow said, "We're honored to accept this award and will strive to continue to develop products and processes that promote environmental stewardship."

This year's winners were announced at an industry gala held September 27 at London's Grosvenor Hotel. For more information, go to the "EW Awards" link at www.electronicsweekly.com.
