EarthNews Radio: Environmentally Sound Cleaning
It's amazing how something as simple as cleaning our homes creates environmental challenges.
Jerry Kay spoke to Linda Mason Hunter, co-author of Green Clean: The Environmentally Sound Guide to Cleaning Your Home:
Hunter says cleaners that you make yourself or buy in a natural food store are not as concentrated, and make take a little more product, time, and effort. But you'll be leaving out a number of synthetic chemicals.
Your senses are a good guide to know whether chemicals are harmful for your health, according to Hunter: If your eyes water, your nose stings, or your skin becomes irritated, that's a sign that the product is probably harmful to your health to some degree.
