Fannie, Freddie shares jump as regulator to lift investment caps

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Shares of Fannie Mae <FNM.N> and Freddie Mac <FRE.N> jumped on Wednesday, after the federal regulator for the mortgage finance companies said it will lift an investment cap, in a move that will free up billions of dollars to invest in the U.S. housing market.

Fannie shares rose 10.3 percent to $29.75, while Freddie shares gained 11 percent to $28.
