SAN DIEGO — Kintera, Inc. , a provider of software as a service to the nonprofit industry, today announced that Earth Share is the first nonprofit organization to sell its own private-labeled CharityGift greeting cards and gift certificates through an online custom card shop at www.earthshare.org/CharityGift.html.

Earth Share is a nationwide network of America's leading nonprofit environmental and conservation organizations. Earth Share has affiliates in 19 states, representing more than 400 community and state environmental organizations in addition to its national groups. Earth Share's member organizations work in communities and states, across the country, and around the world to help protect and preserve public health and the Earth's air, water, coastal areas and wetlands, wildlife, and much more.

Earth Share-branded CharityGift greeting cards and gift certificates can be used to benefit a specific member organization of Earth Share or all of them through a general gift to Earth Share. Gift givers simply decide on the charitable donation amount for the CharityGift they create and then let their gift recipients select a charity to help the Earth. CharityGift cards can be personalized and sent via U.S. mail or by email, and gift certificates can be purchased and printed immediately.

"We are excited to be able to use Kintera's CharityGift technology to introduce a new way for people to help the Earth in conjunction with gift-giving," said Earth Share President and CEO, Kal Stein. "Whether it is for a birthday, the holidays, or to say `thank you' for a favor or a job well done, this is the perfect gift -- fun and meaningful for both the gift giver and the gift recipient."

"While we've worked with a number of for-profit corporate customers in the past to create custom charity-oriented gift products, Earth Share is the first nonprofit organization to use our technology in this way. Earth Share has created an innovative new model for gift giving which we expect other nonprofit organizations may wish to emulate," said Randi Shade, Kintera's Vice President of Gift Cards.

Kintera's web-based technology has helped Earth Share to create its own custom CharityGift cards by personalizing the messaging, logo, design, and donation details. Kintera also can turn any custom product, invitation, printed piece, or other specialty item into a CharityGift by simply adding a donation and redemption code to the product.
