ROUND ROCK, Texas ȃ Dell will offer free computer recycling at one-day events in select cities in the United States, Europe and Australia this fall in conjunction with the company's annual Global Community Involvement Month activities.
Dell's Recycling Tour will begin Sept. 17 in Bracknell, United Kingdom, followed by events in Nashville, Tenn., Munich, Germany and Sydney, Australia throughout October and November. The tour concludes in Oklahoma City on Nov. 12 in celebration of America Recycles Day.
Consumers in communities served by Dell's recycling tour will have the opportunity to empty their closets and garages of any brand computer, monitor, printer and other computer equipment and drop them off at their local collection event to be responsibly recycled.
"At Dell, part of being a great global company is being environmentally responsible," said Tod Arbogast, Dell's sustainable business manager. "These recycling events, and the public-private partnerships that make them possible, enable us to reinforce the message that no computer should go to waste."
Through Dell's partnership with the National Cristina Foundation (www.cristina.org), consumers also have the option to donate unwanted computer equipment to charity. Dell has product donation programs in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
Dell celebrates Global Community Involvement Month each September, encouraging employees to volunteer in the communities where they live and work. In September 2004, more than 17,500 Dell employees, one of every three employees worldwide, volunteered, donating more than 78,000 hours of time.

Through more than 50 community computer-recycling events directly managed or sponsored by Dell during the past two years, more than 2,500 tons (2.25 million kilograms) of unwanted computer equipment have been kept out of landfills. Dell uses one-day computer recycling events to educate consumers about the importance of responsibly recycling unwanted computer equipment and the availability of ongoing consumer recycling programs. Dell is continually exploring ways to expand permanent recycling programs to more countries.
