SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Yes. Even even gigabits can be 'greened'. And at a major industry conference, VoiceCon Fall, this week, Extreme Networks, Inc. will discuss the elements required to deliver a superior converged voice and data infrastructure over the LAN/WAN. They'll also talk about new automated power conservation techniques and operating systems that allow for a greener environment.

Extreme Networks and its strategic global partner Avaya will demonstrate how an Engaged Network for Intelligent Communications can deliver real energy cost savings while offering a converged network for IP telephony at Gigabit speeds. The "Go Green at Gigabit Speeds" initiative will be discussed during a presentation on Wednesday, August 22nd at 12: Avaya 45 PM. Presenters will outline how the combination of Avaya's IP communication solutions and Gigabit IP phones with Extreme Networks Universal Port software can automatically help optimize the power consumption of connected devices, thus reducing electricity use.

Additionally, as part of the educational forum and at its exhibit booth, Extreme Networks will address quality of service (QOS) supporting voice and data on the LAN and over the WAN, the integration of network security to protect users and traffic, and the enablement of VoIP for mobile workers. Extreme Networks related convergence solutions will be on display at booth No. 301, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, from August, 20 -23.

"The network has become an intelligent tool helping deliver a superior convergence experience, discover and manage edge devices and provide beneficial power management," said Scott Lucas, senior director of solutions marketing for Extreme Networks. "At this year's VoiceCon Fall, we will show customers the latest technologies and strategies that help them optimize their power and achieve new efficiencies when building a converged network."
