LONDON (Reuters) - Shares in drug maker Shire <SHP.L> rose as much as 4.8 percent on Friday as traders cited market talk of bid interest from U.S. rival Pfizer <PFE.N>.

By 5:37 a.m. EDT, Shire shares were up 4 percent at 981.5 pence ($1.99).
More than two million shares changed hands in the first 100 minutes of trade, compared with a daily average of 6.5 million shares in the past 30 days.
