Late last week, the important announcement came from the Association for Green Meetings and Events. The recently-formed group is launching a 25-hour, hands-on educational program focused on green project management and best practices using the association's “AGME EcoAudit” to determine ROI.

“The thought to create, develop and implement the industry’s first ever certification dedicated to the green movement is a dream come true,” said Loriann White, CMM, co-founder of AGME.

White said that a recent survey of 200 meeting professionals revealed that fully 85 percent favored the creation of a certification regime for eco-minded events professionals.

AGME will launch the Certification in Green Meetings and Events (CGME) program at the association’s annual meeting in Long Beach, Calif., this August.
