WASHINGTON — GridPoint, Inc., a provider of intelligent energy management (IEM) appliances, today announced that GridPoint Connect will be featured in Los Angeles Magazine's DesignHouse 2005: The Green Home, which marries healthy living with great design. GridPoint Connect integrates renewable energy, provides protection from power outages, and reduces energy costs for the home.

Architect James Chuda, known for his groundbreaking work in the field of environmental design, designed this contemporary house in the Hollywood hills to educate homeowners about building materials, techniques and products that are protective of human health and the environment. The Green Home will be spotlighted in the November issue of Los Angeles Magazine and on an upcoming episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show. Tours will be offered Oct. 28 through Nov. 13.

"We are very pleased to be included in this important and innovative home," said Peter L. Corsell, President and CEO of GridPoint. "This showcase will help to inform the public that selecting a renewable energy source is now a viable option. We've made it easy for the mainstream homeowner to integrate solar panels as well as intelligently manage their energy."

Made especially for renewable energy customers, GridPoint Connect is a grid-tied battery backup product that integrates and converts energy from solar panels into electricity that can be used immediately by the customer or stored within the product for future use. The product can also determine the amount of energy used from solar panels versus the utility company as well as peak usage throughout the day. In addition to providing backup power during outages, GridPoint Connect also enables users to sell excess energy back to the utility. Homeowners who purchase GridPoint Connect can take advantage of tax credits allowed for private solar-related equipment.

Unlike any other residential energy technology, GridPoint products uniquely incorporate advanced software coupled with communication technologies and network controls that allow the appliance to automatically execute intelligent decisions to improve power reliability and management. The single cabinet, "plug-and-play" appliances are easy to install and monitored by GridPoint's network operations center to ensure maximum efficiency and early detection of maintenance needs.
