AUSTIN, Texas — Green Mountain Energy Company is providing a cleaner, 100 percent renewable electricity product for two Hyatt hotel properties in Dallas -- Hyatt(R) Regency Dallas at Reunion and Hyatt Regency DFW International Airport. These two signature Hyatt hotels in Dallas are now the nation's largest hospitality industry purchaser of renewable energy and one of two of Dallas' commercial purchasers of 100 percent renewable electricity. This seminal partnership underlines clean electricity's mainstream acceptance as the economical and responsible source of commercial energy.

Renewable energy comes from less-polluting sources and is replenished naturally -- examples include wind, solar and low-impact hydro facilities.

The energy purchase helps these two Hyatt properties reduce their share of pollution from carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. By buying renewable energy, these Hyatt hotels, each using an average of 1,416 megawatt-hours per month, will help avoid as much air pollution as is generated annually by more than 4,400 cars -- equivalent to not driving approximately 55 million miles.

"This was a chance to make a very public statement about the responsibility we have to be good community stewards," said Hyatt Regency Dallas general manager Steve Vissotzky. "Our agreement with Green Mountain Energy not only makes economic sense, but it also complements our existing sustainable business practices."

"The choice of a cleaner electricity product for these Hyatt hotels is yet another example of the growing preference for renewable energy in Texas and across the nation," said Scott Hart, president of commercial services for Green Mountain Energy Company. "Choosing renewable energy is one of the best -- and easiest -- ways for a business to demonstrate its commitment to preserving the environment. The two Dallas Hyatt properties have set the bar high by choosing to use 100 percent renewable electricity."

The purchase of a cleaner electricity product from Green Mountain Energy Company for these Hyatt hotels is helping to make a difference by increasing the demand for new renewable energy facilities like the Green Mountain Energy(R) Wind Farm at Brazos.
