Nomura in talks to buy UK's Collins Stewart: report

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan's Nomura Holdings Inc <8604.T> is in talks with Collins Stewart Plc <CLST.L> about a takeover that could value the British broker at more than 700 million pounds ($1.41 billion), Britain's Sunday Telegraph newspaper reported on Sunday.

Nomura, Japan's largest brokerage, has not made any formal offer as the talks are believed to be at an early stage, the paper said.

Nomura is understood to have expressed an interest in buying the entire Collins Stewart business, it added.

No one at Nomura could be reached for comment.
