Samsung to spend $1.4 billion to upgrade chip lines

SEOUL (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co Ltd <005930.KS>, the world's largest memory chip maker, said on Friday it will spend 1.35 trillion won ($1.37 billion) to upgrade semiconductor lines in 2008.

It told the Korea Exchange in a filing that the investment was decided at a board meeting.
