Medvedev sworn in as Russian president
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Dmitry Medvedev was sworn in as Russia's president on Wednesday in a lavish ceremony in the Kremlin, taking over from his mentor Vladimir Putin.
Medvedev placed his hand on a red leather-bound copy of Russia's constitution to take the oath of office in the gold and white St. Andrew's Hall.
The ceremony was broadcast live on state television.
