OSLO (Reuters) - A leak at the Statfjord oilfield in the North Sea has been halted after about 7,550 barrels of oily water were discharged, Norwegian energy group StatoilHydro said on Saturday.

StatoilHydro earlier on Saturday halted production and evacuated 156 workers from the Statfjord A platform where the leak occurred.

"Oil from the tank at Statfjord A is no longer leaking, but only water," StatoilHydro said in a statement. "The pumping of oil-bearing water has been stopped."

The company said that a total of 1,200 cubic meters of oily water was discharged to the sea for safety's sake. The volume is equal to 7,548 barrels of crude.

"The oil concentration in the water is limited," StatoilHydro said. "The situation at Statfjord A is being stabilized."

No one was hurt, the company said.
