Blanchet says that growing organic food and spices is about growing for seven generations; that is, preserving the soil and the plants themselves.

She says that allspice grows on a tree, and that in the past Workers would cut down the trees, harvesting only one generation's worth of allspice. Organic harvesting demands climbing the trees to pick the berries by hand, thus leaving the tree for future generations.
