Oregon State University has been selected to lead a national research center focused on making electronics more resilient to radiation, which could strengthen national security and boost U.S. competitiveness in space and defense technologies.
The new Center for Advancing Radiation Resilience of Electronics, backed by a $17 million award from the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Predictive Science Academic Alliance Program, brings together six universities to tackle one of the most pressing challenges in modern electronics: enabling critical components to withstand the harsh radiation conditions encountered in space and other environments.
Partner institutions include the Vanderbilt University; the University of California San Diego, North Carolina State University, University of California, Berkeley; Seattle University; and the University of Notre Dame.
