WWF-UK has built giant six-metre paper models of a boat and plane at London's South Bank to urge the UK government to introduce key shipping and aviation restrictions into the UK Climate Bill.  WWF is calling on the British public to sign the paper models in support of our campaign to control climate change.

Colin Butfield, Head of Campaigns at WWF-UK, said: "The UK has a unique opportunity to introduce the world's first ever Climate Change Bill but it is vital we make the Bill as strong as possible."

WWF is calling for carbon emissions from international aviation and shipping to be included in the Bill, which will legally bind the government to reduce emissions.

"It would be quite unfair to push ahead with targets to reduce emissions from industry, road transport and housing, while turning a blind eye to major sectors of the economy such as aviation and shipping," Butfield explained.

WWF is also calling on the government to cut carbon emissions by at least 80% by 2050.

The Government has proposed to cut emissions by at least 60% by 2050 but this figure is based on out-of-date science. !ADVERTISEMENT!

Please add your name to our models. The boat and plane are made of paper and bamboo and they are at the Observation Point on South Bank Walk near Gabriel's Wharf between Thursday November 15th and Sunday November 18th.

The models will then be taken to parliament on Monday November 19th for the crucial second reading of the Bill.
